What happened
OpenAI has introduced a paid model for its Sora video generation app on iOS, ending unlimited free video generations. Users can now purchase bundles of 10 extra video generations for $4. The current free limit is 30 video generations per day, which may be reduced in the future to manage demand.
Why it matters
- The change signals OpenAIâs move to monetize Sora as demand grows and GPU resources become constrained.
- Users who exceed free limits must pay, affecting casual and power users differently.
