OpenAI and Oracle to Build 1GW AI Data Center in Michigan

What happened

OpenAI, Oracle, and Related Digital announced plans to build a data center campus in Saline Township, Michigan, with a capacity of more than one gigawatt. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2026. The project is part of the Stargate initiative to expand U.S. AI infrastructure.
